Ski Locations & Maps
Looking for a wonderful ski through the forests of Yellowstone National Park or an epic cross country workout just 30seconds from West Yellowstone? Come on in, grab a map, and let us tell you more about the close local ski trails.
Christopher D. Daniel photo from Riverside Ski TrailsThe Riverside Trails are groomed (grooming frequency is dependent on snow conditions) for classic skiing. They begin off the east side of Boundary Street just a few skiable or walkable blocks from our shop. Ski into Yellowstone National Park on the cutoff trail for a miles or so and you'll arrive at Upriver and Downriver Trail junction. The Upriver Loop (1km, .6miles) tours southeastward through Yellowstone National Park along the Madison and wraps up along the bank giving a spectacular view of the deeper park. The Downriver Loop (1.5km, .93miles) skirts northeastward through Yellowstone National Park along the river's side and loops back up along the top of the bank also providing lovely scenic points for pictures and pondering.
The Boundary Trail, locally known as the "poop loop" is the closest dog friendly trail to West Yellowstone and is the runs adjacent to Yellowstone National Park. Access the Boundary Trail at the north end of Bounday Street or at the truck pull-off east of highway 191 just outside town. This trail can be connected to both the Riverside Downriver Trail (to the south), and north to Baker's Hole Campground.
If you're looking for a wider groomed trail system allowing for waxable, waxless and skate skiing opportunities you'll be guided to West Yellowstone's infamous Rendezvous Trail System just 4 blocks west of Yellowstone National Park & Freeheel and Wheel. Here you'll find over 30km of professionally groomed trails marked with the traditional green, blue, and black colors denoting easy, intermediate, and difficult skiing terrain.
Stop in for more direction, maps and the latest of the greatest skiing in West Yellowstone!
